Passive House Proposal Shortlisted

James Huemoeller, in collaboration with Robert Fitzsimmons, finished 5th place in a design competition for a new prototype for passive house design in New Orleans. Their proposal was one of the projects selected by the jury after three designs were shortlisted through a popular vote. The designs was specifically noted for its high quality design while still conforming to the technical requirements for a passive house. As New Orleans looks to recover from Katrina, develop more resilient typologies will be a key component to the success of that future. This project is just one of a few that will be needed to provide housing to those displaced with the hurricane. See ArchDaily for more information on the competition.
