The Field Collective is Founded
James Huemoeller is part of a group of principals of small firms in BC (less than 10 employees) of the “Field Collective”
The Field Collective will be a collaboration of small architecture practices in British Columbia, Canada. The collective enables small firms to share resources and institutional knowledge, thereby increasing capacity and quality control. Moving forward, JIM hopes to complete several of our projects with members of the Collective and use the group as an important source for filling knowledge gaps.
Their mission:
Place, for all.
Densifying cities lowers environmental impact and creates space for a growing urban community. In this urban shift, small practices aim to support the construction of affordable, high-quality housing options so each of us can craft a home.
Whole > parts.
Need a housing expert, or a talented materials researcher? The Field Collective leverages the collective knowledge and skillset of small practices to better support our projects.
Many voices.
A network of small teams amplifies diverse experiences to create spaces which more equitably serve a wider range of needs.
Resilient cities.
We acknowledge the environmental impact of building operations and materials, which amounts to over 40% of global carbon emissions. Field Collective aims to harness local talent and shared knowledge to lower this impact and manage the effects of climate change.
